"The Circuit Is Now Complete"

As Darth Vader remarked, "when I left you, I was but the learner. Now I am the master."

The defense was brilliant. My committee loved my writing, and they were pleased with my oral responses, even if I was a bit slow on the draw. I might have been quicker, but I'm operating on less than four hours of sleep and two cans of Red Bull. Such is my life.

But now I've got Beethoven's Ninth symphony on, and I am very much looking forward to the chorale finally, a treat I promised myself after a successful defense.

The Circuit Is Nearly Complete

In precisely 12 hours, I will be in my master's examination. The revisions have gone spendidly, and I feel as prepared as I could posisbly be. The stress now is all bureaucratic--I was left off the spring graduation list and there may be a problem with the constitution of my examining committee. All I can do right now, though, is calm myself so that I can have productive conversations tomorrow. Only after that will I be able to attempt to navigate the bureaucratic channels once more. As the litany goes: I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer; fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me, and when the fear has gone, I will turn the inner eye to see its path, but there will be nothing. Only I shall remain. But now, I'm gonna go get a beer.

I'll be back in the library for a week pinning down references for footnotes and the like. C'est la vie.

So, It's Been a While

I've been revising the hell out of my portfolio. I'm done with the first round, so I may be able to pay a little more attention to the blog. If you're nice, I might even let you see some of what I've been working on.
